About Me
Gail is a passionate educator and has been working in the field of Early Childhood Education for 40 years. She joined NCNS in 2008 and has brought her many years of experience in both teaching and curriculum development to NCNS. Gail holds a B.A. in Child Development/Early Childhood Education.
Gail also has experience working as a Child Life Therapist at both Children’s Memorial Hospital (now known as Lurie Children’s Hospital) and Illinois Masonic Medical Center where she established a pet therapy program while there. Along with running activities for hospitalized children, she was responsible for doing developmental assessments on children ages 0-5 years. Gail was also part of their multidisciplinary child abuse team.
Gail is primarily responsible for maintaining the active practice and philosophy of NCNS and the operational necessities of teaching. She works with the teachers, training and orienting them and aiding in the problems that arise. She leads monthly staff meetings and attends meetings of the North Shore Early Childhood Director’s group. She monitors the professional growth requirements of the teachers as well as the setting up and taking down of equipment. The Director also works with parents and supports them and their children, plans orientation programs, and shows the School to prospective families. The Director is a member of the NCNS Board of Directors of the school and acts as a liaison between the staff and board.
